Brush containers sharing and improved brush indicator

Hi

What about making a forum topic to share brush containers?
It’s very popular in Krita. Maybe the brush container can be made more user friendly (don’t know what could be done right now) to save brushes.

In addition:

  • popular brush containers made by users can be included in pro motion: this makes the brush container feature be really useful (now it’s more like a personal feature for your own brushes but nothing more because nobody shares anything) and creates a cool community here because brushes can be shared

  • so normal brushes, custom brushes and animbrushes could be shared

  • also this request should be solved: Better brush indicator
So the brush container should be made more user friendly and the brush indicator should give feedback of its size, type of brush, … on the canvas when painting.

In krita there is a window to see which brush bundles are installed. This could be made in pro motion too (by using the existing file format for a brush container).
You could also make a standard brushes container that’s included with pro motion and has some brushes that can be used in most pixel art. This then appears in the window of installed brush containers in a newly installed pro motion.

see https://krita.org for what I mean by sharing brushes. The whole program is driven there by creating brushes and sharing them. I think the same can be done here (the basic features are ready for it) but it needs some polishing. This could be the first real pixel art brushes sharing

Examples of pixel art brushes for procreate. Those kinds of containers could be made and shared for pro motion.

In addition to pixel-art-girl please Jan.cosmigo add mouse over titles. Always when I make a 3D brush I cannot tell what the frick it is because I can’t see it. The delta is too far apart please add mouse over text so I can tell which brush is which before I select it… Thanks in advance!

There could be different types of icons in the brush container so you can visually see what type it is.

Well actually pixel-art-girl PMNG doesn’t at this time support 3D brushes so there is no need to tell what kind of brush it is. It already says if it’s an amnibrush or if the brush is standard. however mouse over text would help me exponentially and be extremely useful.

How can you make an unsupported 3D brush?

Take my course and I will show you!

One of the problems is that brushes have their own color palette that belong to your project.
If the color palette of your brush differs from the color palette of your project then you either have to import the colors into your project or remap the colors of the brush to the project’s color palette.
With single color brushes, sharing would be easier.

The brushes used in ProCreate are possibly a different thing? It’s more like a pattern which is possible in PM as well, see the “Halftone” area in the Paint & Tool settings tab “Paint Mode”.
Such patterns are just PNG files and can be shared as well.

So Krita is made so that brushes don’t need their own color palette?

Is it not possible to put the brush color palette inside too so this is shared too?
I understand you don’t really like this feature?

It’s not about not liking the idea (although I think all the management stuff is maybe not needed by most of people). Also wanted to point out that there are technical issues. Krita does not work with 256 color indexed palettes. It’s a true color painting program. Also, in PM brushes are simple ovals, images or even animations.

Jan.cosmigo do you think you can implement mouse over naming? so I can tell what it is I’m looking at? Please?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Basically yes, but where would the name come from? You would need some extra text input logics?

Ok Jan.cosmigo let’s see if we can avoid the text issue altogether. try this?

1.Is it possible to when you have your 3D mode on that when you cut a brush it only captures as an icon what’s on the left and crops it like a normal brush.

  1. Meanwhile ignores that 3D is turned on althogether and treats the brush as if 3D was turned off.

3.Then with the icon it displays the words “3D” in red in the lower left-hand corner Just like an animbrush displays an “A”

4.If the 3D brush is an animbrush then it will display “3D” in blue in the lower left hand corner

If you could do those 4 steps it would solve the problem of not being able to see the icon Unfortunately I do not know how much programming this will take but it would sure help me and all thoes that work on my team if you would impliment this thank you for your time. And I don’t need to tell you how terrific your program is.
