How do you go back to using the left mouse button color from the brush? I had my color selected and everything was fine then I pushed B to use a color from the canvas and now I can’t go back to just changing and using colors in the palette.

See these two commands:
Brush > Restore
Brush > Make Single Color
Press the period key “.” while using the Paint continuous tool to reset your brush to a single pixel.
