Hi Jan.cosmigo I have found when you use the freeform brush cutter tool when there is a graphic that you want to select at the side of your image the object smears until you have selected the whole image let me demonstrate.
as you can see draw a graphic and place it on the edge
next select the graphic with the freehand brush brush selector (alt B)
now look at your brush the bottom is repeated over and over until it gets to the point of what you selected. this is unwanted
