I’ve got a compilation of questions about use of the tools - mainly cut-tool from my team. I gotta admit, this is quite unexpected to me, but our map-maker is using the tools in slightly different way than I do, as a pixelartist and I’m not sure if this is something that can be customized or should be a requested feature.
The main issue is working and managing BIG TILESETS - so, the map-maker is naturally going to work from a 1:1 or zoom-out xx% scale - contrary to the zoom-in I work with. I’ll illustrate their questions/problems on a smaller graphics, but please keep in mind that those are meant to represent BIG elements. Like 256x512 would be typically small part of the image.
- Cut tool guides - is it possible to customize them? I’m being told, they have an accessibility issue with the guidelines - they don’t see them very well and would like to customize them. They’d like to change them from this reverse-color 1px effect into bright-red color and 3px width to see them better on various backgrounds. Here, it’s not an issue, but if you have a very diverse map, the guides are being lost. Another thing is when working with bigger zoom - they have trouble cutting out elements, because the guide lines are always 1px actual - in Photoshop, the guides are always thin, no matter the zoom. They find it challenging to use properly, because that 1px guide which is super-wide on zoom makes them miss the element they want to cut.
Guides normally
Guide gets lost on grey backgrounds
They get a bit hard to see with certain color combinations

[SOLVED]
Brush position - always centered. This is something I struggled with myself, when moving big sets of tilesets, it’s very difficult to move them when the focus is centered on the element. We could really use a setting that anchors the cut element to the corner of the cut-element.
Brush is being centered to the cut element
On bigger elements, it would be much easier to manage if we could anchor them to the corners of the element
What we’re looking for: customization of the cut-guidelines and customization of the anchor style of the cut-element.
@Morintari thanks a lot man!
