Re-apply Color Palette layer effect not working as expected

Re-apply Color Palette layer effect isn’t working for me as expected.
It seems to mostly work, but the first colour in each subpalette is replaced with the second colour.
It used to work with this file, but it’s been a good while since I’ve used it so maybe I’m doing something wrong.

Settings:

  • Add Indices: on
  • Use Grouping/Sub-Palettes: on
  • Group Size: 4
  • Groups start at: 0

Can you please send the project file to jan@cosmigo.com ?
This should help me to quickly find an answer.

I’m not sure if this is related, but I think it is? When I import an image that is not an indexed .PNG, color “#FFFFFF” gets pushed in the color palette.

e.g.

These are my settings when importing an image:

That’s a different thing and “normal”. The system needs to have the transparent color index to be white when the image contains alpha transparency.

You have different black values in your palette. The layer effect expects all colors to be grouped, also the ones you have drawn your image width. The black in your image uses color index 12 (marked red) but for the effect to calculate correctly it must be a black from the color groups (starting at palette index 64). So, just replace all black 13 with black 64 (marked green) and it looks as you expect it to be.

Cheers! As this file was working previously (it’s the same one I sent you as an example) I didn’t even think of checking the pixel values. :man_facepalming:

So it is all working as expected, just me being stupid. Maybe I was unintentionally exploiting a bug which got fixed? :man_shrugging:

Cheers again!
