Hi
Could you add more game consoles please?
- Nintendo Game Boy (original)
- Nintendo DS
- Atari 2600
- Atari 7800
I also would like to have the IBM MS-DOS PC CGA, EGA and VGA palette for making pixel art that matches this.
Hi

I also would like to have the IBM MS-DOS PC CGA, EGA and VGA palette for making pixel art that matches this.
I second this pixel-art-girl. also Jan.cosmigo could you add Nintendo Virtual Boy thanks
Not sure if we can make graphics for this system because it had stereoscopic 3D graphics on a head-mounted display. Recreating this in pixel art is maybe not possible? I’m not an expert.
Hello pixel-art-girl, I am no expert either but when it comes to 3D sprite I am. Henceforth
Which is a complete course on how to draw in 3D rather it be sprites and backgrounds or just drawing images etc…
And also check out my game “NyghtByrds” which is for the Nintendo Virtual boy.

Both which I drew in ProMotion NG. Any other tool would of been a nightmare!
So Yes pixel-art-girl ProMotion NG can draw in 3D it’s the only pixel art program that can!
Incredible! I didn’t even know this is possible.
@jan.cosmigo : maybe you want to make a video on youtube about this as an introduction? I’m sure not many people will know it’s possible
I’d like to see @Morintari to create such videos
I will add some new presets as you suggested, but not sure if I can find (and correctly add) color constraints. Would need to examine the specs which can be time consuming.
If possible, it would be great if someone could point out color restrictions and pixel sizes etc. for the consoles. With MS-DOS there is no limitation except the number of colors.
unfortunately i can’t help because I have no knowledge of it: i wanted to learn through the new presets in pro motion
I switched from aseprite and in that program the feature doesn’t even exist. You just use the palette for the console without even knowing the console has limits. So all the artwork you make has a good chance never to work on the real hardware
I’d like to see @Morintari to create such videos
Thanks Jan.Cosmigo please let me know what you would like to see and maybe we can work together on this (please contact me on my personal email you know what it is!)
Maybe the missing ones can be added from here?
The only safe way to test how colours will be shown on any hardware is via colour profiles. You can find and download colour profiles for most handheld game consoles, for example, and apply them to specific images (at the app level) or even to your own system (OS level) and you’ll see colours exactly as they would be rendered on the screen of that device.
Colour profiling is an assumed standard in all graphics works, and every modern game engine supports (demands) colour profiles, especially when dealing with HDR.
